Abstract

Postmodernism has challenged conventional understandings of truth, authority, and metanarrative, influencing the faith formation of young Christians in today’s digital and pluralistic context. This study aims to examine key ideas in postmodern theology and their implications for the faith life of young Christians. Using a qualitative approach through literature study, the research analyzes the perspectives of Jean-François Lyotard, Jacques Derrida, and John D. Caputo, particularly concerning relativism, the rejection of metanarratives, deconstruction, pluralism, and authority. The findings indicate that postmodern values influence young Christians’ understanding of truth, identity, morality, and their relationship with the church. The study proposes relational discipleship, narrative approaches, safe faith communities, and dialogical Christian education as constructive responses. The church is therefore called to engage postmodern culture critically and constructively while communicating the biblical gospel in ways that remain faithful and contextually relevant.
